Berry Garden Pillow from Anthropologie.  The back side (below) is the coraly peach accent colour with a subtle chevron pattern.

Adiabatic Rug has a beautiful pattern and lots of visual interest for an area rug.

Hot pot mats and mittens should be just as pretty as your decor (this is what I tell myself, even though my current ones are ugly and I keep them hidden in the cupboard).  I could change that with these Fiammetta Holders.

I would love to hang this beautiful "A Year In Treetops" Calendar in my kitchen.

Last but not least! The beautiful Verdant Canister would look oh so lovely on my countertop!

Weekend Fashion and Decor

After seeing this print called "An Empty Belly" on The Marion House Book, my mom bought us both a silk screened print, signed by the artist, for Christmas. She just had hers framed and below is the final product! Isn't it lovely?!

I had some wonderful professional news this week and I feel like a milestone reward is in order. These Loeffler Randall boots - on sale - are calling my name, although I'm sure I will take my time in deciding what, if anything, is appropriate to spoil myself with.

Next, I am apartment hunting, as my current apartment won't be available for renewal, and I love looking at these dreamy kitchens on The Marion House Book while I fantasize about a new place.

I love Blair Eadie's looks, and especially this one on the left. I am often drawn to leopard print flats and the red of her coat really pops.

This poster (available at Etsy) will soon be the new addition to my home. It is so lovely and simple and will go with my decor . . . .but beyond that the message is something I will really take as a daily reminder.

October Obsessions

It has been an insane week, but finally there is time to indulge myself and post about October obsessions from around the web!

This Hermes watch is one of my favourite "dream" pieces. It's big and masculine, and the soft brown leather makes it feel like the perfect thing to wear with a big camel coat. But above all I love the Hermes website. It's filled with these whimsical illustrations on nearly every page. They just offer a little bit of deserved delight on a fall day.

The New York Times Home & Garden section . . . like this bedroom in Berlin and this Stockholm entryway! Speaking of the NYT, there is a fantastic piece written by Thomas Beller that made me smile from ear to ear today. Click here to read "Home is where your stuff is."

As soon as the air turns crisp I crave Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks. I've had one so far this year, trying to keep it reasonable!!

Listening to Heart of Gold on chilly mornings driving to work. Nothing wakes me up and stirs my mind like the opening beats of that song, especially when I'm on my own, free to play it nice and loud.

Rich shades of yellow and bronzy brown to get me in the autumn mood.

Edward Hopper's paintings - which were part of a my American Literature specialization in a seminar I took in my final year. I remember using these paintings as a metaphoric consideration for the home as a barrier, used by the protagonist to escape the complexities of the outside world. I've been fascinated by them ever since. She looks longingly towards the outside, yet she curves self-protectively in determined immobility. Morning Sun feels like fall to me though, the slow rising sun that still is fresh and warm once awoken.

Elsa Peretti Wave Ring from Tiffany. Just simple and beautiful. For some reason I always want to wear more gold in the fall and silver in the winter. How curious.

Love the exterior of the new Westchester Boutique. Curved windows and slate black paint is looking surprisingly warm and inviting. I love it.

Dot Flouncette Blouse from J. Crew. Now being added to my holiday wish list . . . early I know.

Cocoon Concerto coat from J. Crew.

Cool, Calm, and Collected

How great is the artwork in this space?? It fits the cool, relaxed, modern decor so well.

I love floating shelves . . . but I never thought about the magazine storage / display option.

What a great space via The Marion House Project. There are several other photos in that particular post, which provides tips and tricks for displaying artwork in your home.

Missed Connections

Missed Connections
A Cup of Jo's Joanna Goddard posted about this print quite a while ago, and I must have missed it originally. While bouncing around her blog this morning I found it. Visit Sophie Blackall's Etsy shop and check out more of her charming work!

This is part of her Missed Connections series, which details posts from Craigslist that depict people lamenting missed romantic / social connections. Such a sweet idea. It reminds me of the first episode of the show Dharma and Greg, where the future couple spot each other through the glass of the Subway train window.
