Work Wear for Wintery Months

I wear a cardigan to work almost every day, even if it is just thrown in my bag as an extra layer in case it's chilly. I love this cozy Textured Short-Sleeved Cardigan from Banana Republic. It looks cozy but not too slouchy for work.

This DVF Linda wrap dress is such a perfect combination of sophisticated and flirty. I think you could transition it from work day to date night by pairing it with a black cardigan.

I love the Cafe Capri in Wool from J. Crew so much that I would almost be tempted to try a bold colour like the tangerine above.

I would love to have this Greer Cardigan from Tory Burch in my work wardrobe. Hmmm maybe it will show up under my Christmas tree.....

Tickled Pink

This colour scheme, from a very sweet birthday party, featured on Shelter inspired me. It is getting towards February, where pink and red are colours of the season. Whether you love or loathe Valentine's Day, I do always enjoy the injection of colour in a regularly gloomy month. Anyway, back to the sweet shades of pink and red . . . .

Michael Penny featured these Emerson Made flower accessories on his blog today. I love the soft pink and yellow combinations. I featured Emerson Made here and here after discovering Emerson and Ryan's work through A Cup of Jo.

This is the Silk Betty Layered dress from Banana Republic. It's actually available in a Dark Steel, but I just love the Deep Rose shade. It makes me think of bright bursting Peonies in the spring!

It may sound silly, but I'm a sucker for really good pens - kind of like how Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks talk about bouquets of newly sharpened pencils in You've Got Mail. Maybe it's just a common teacher trait. Anyway, these Staedtler ones are my absolute favourites. Linking this in with my desire for all things poppy and pink today, I had to go buy a few this afternoon . . . .my pink one had died from overuse!

Last but not least, I've always loved the soft and subtle touches of hot pink in this Domino Magazine feature. I stumbled upon it while scouting through this feature on Apartment Therapy.

Dressing for Work

This week has been a whirlwind. In with December came lots of winter weather and a seasonable sickness! I have the most terrible cold and feel completely run down. I was thinking today about how usually at this time of year I feel in a bit of a rut with my workwear. I start to feel as if I'm on a constant rotation of the same 5 outfits and, as a result, I feel a little sloppy and very boring. Nothing makes me feel quite as sharp as a new jacket or blazer, so I set my sights on finding a few that would be functional and fashionable. Here's what I came up with!

Dressing for Work
Wilfred Knit Tweed Jacket available at Aritzia.

Dressing for Work
Elizabeth and James Bow Tie Blazer available at Nordstrom.

Dressing for Work
Gap Boucle Peacoat available in stores and online. I tried this on last week and couldn't get over how lovely it was. I would be able to wear it in the winter as a blazer and in the spring as a light jacket. A very versatile piece.

Dressing for Work
Marc by Marc Jacobs Reilly Herringbone Blazer available at Shop Bop.

Dressing for Work
Alexander Wang Collarless Felt Blazer available at Nordstorm.

Dressing for Work
Banana Republic Cotton Sweater Jacket currently on sale in the online shop.

Dressing for Work
T by Alexander Wang Double Breasted Knit Jacket available at Nordstrom.

Think Pink?

All day today I've been bombarded by great things that just happen to involve the colour pink! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it is becoming increasingly cold and wintery. Pink always feels somewhat sweet and warm and inviting, as long as it isn't too bubblegum cutesy. I love it the most when it is paired with something pearly or gold. Here are a few great pink ideas:
