Soft and Sweet Fall 2012 at Jil Sander

Soft and Sweet Fall 2012 at Jil Sander
Jil Sander's Fall 2012 RTW Collection by Raf Simons is one that keeps catching my eye in magazines this month.  Every year there are a few pieces that get plenty of editorial space.  This year, many prints and patterns are getting due attention, but the two tone coat (above and below in different shades) in this collection trumps the aforementioned pattern play in my opinion.  The billowy sleeves and the generous volume of fabric in the body create a simple fashion cocoon.  I think that this coat is something that you could have in your closet forever, that you could wear whether 20 or 65.  There is something beautiful and timeless about a well cut coat.  Below, are several more pieces that stuck out for me in this collection.  I was especially drawn to the soft knits and pale colours that were chosen when, typically, designers come out with the deep plum, green, black, brown, and red shades in droves.  Do you like soft colours in the fall?

Colbalt Blue Love

Colbalt blue is my absolute favourite colour.  The love affair began when I bought a dress for my university graduation from Club Monaco in that bright crayola colour.  It is having a surge in the fashion world and Erin of Elements of Style did a post about the trend the other day.  It got me searching for pops of the colour.  Here is what I came up with today...

Bold or Girly?

I'm not one for a fussy bedroom, and I don't like it to look particularly feminine. However, I do think that the bold pinks here are gorgeous. Depending on the circumstances, who you were sharing the room with, I might stick to the geometric / ikat patterns in the pillows and lean towards nudes and greys, but overall I think it works. The pink is a bold enough tone that it doesn't scream girly boudoire! Photo captured by Susan Gilmore for Renovation Style and featured on Canadian House and Home blog here.

Lonny Mag Treats and Treasures

In the third issue of Lonny Magazine, sisters Antonia and Victoria Thompson worked their magic on two apartments with identical layouts, each yielding a different aesthetic.

Both having a sense of style that resonated with me, I devoured this feature, and have revisited it frequently.

I favour Victoria's design, and yearn to incorporate several of the pieces she used into my own apartment.

Here are a few of my picks!
