It's A Small World

It's A Small World

It's A Small World
Meet Frances. Sometimes I am reminded what a small world it really is - today was one of those days! I met Frances about 6 years ago while we were both attending the same university. We had friends in common and would occasionally see each other at parties or dinners. I was always in awe of her beauty and personal style . . . not to mention her fantastic British accent. I was shocked today to stumble upon her photo on a small style blog called Toronto Verve. She just looks so gorgeous I had to re-post the photos.

Aritzia Makes Cold Look Hot

Wow. Aritzia always seems to have great pieces in the winter, particularly because their blazers, coats, sweaters, and jackets tend to be spot on. I am really loving these few - above is the Varsity sweater. Just the right amount of retro prep for my wardrobe since I don't usually go that route.

I love this loose but chic cape (the Wilfred Hooded Zip cape), because it doesn't look entirely shapeless and garbage bag-eque. There is a femininity and a structure to it that I am really drawn to.

TNA Hillary Parka looks oh-so-very cozy. This evening it was very cold in Toronto and I needed something more than my lululemon raincoat to snuggle up in. This parka would have been perfect!

Check out all of these looks on the Aritzia blog!

I've written before about my favourite bookstore in Toronto, TYPE, which my sister introduced me to. It's a beautiful bookstore and reminds me of something out of an old movie like Funny Face or a newer movie like You've Got Mail. It has charm and integrity - two essential ingredients in an independent bookstore these days.

Modern Girl Style took these pictures and posted them here. Isn't it lovely??

Tommy Smythe - Apartment Therapy

Tommy Smythe - Apartment Therapy

Tommy Smythe is a formidable talent with a truly engaging personality. As Sarah Richardson's right hand man, he is well known and sought after in Toronto's interior design network. I was delighted to see, that after being featured in several Canadian publications, Tommy's small space in Rosedale was featured on Apartment Therapy for all the world to enjoy. Although his choices differ greatly from my own, he has a wonderful sense of style and it reflects his love of mixing old and new, mostly high with a little low (as Sarah would regularly tease him about on Sarah's House).

Coffee Love & Toronto Love

Any person, who truly knows me, is aware of the fact that I love coffee. I suppose it should actually be categorized as an enduring love affair. I love the way it smells, tastes, the ritual of making it and drinking it.

Last weekend I had the best Americano at Manic Coffee at 426 College Street (in Toronto, Ontario). It was so great that I had to do a post about it. One of the things that I liked the most, completely aside from the fact that it really was the best Americano I have ever tasted, is that it was the PERFECT spot to come and get some work done, chat quietly with a friend, etc. The decor and the setup allowed for a relaxed and casual experience - you don't feel like you are infringing on someone else's space while sitting down. So often I find I don't want to stay too long in a coffee shop because it is so cramped. Definitely not the case with Manic.

If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop by and have something!!

Neat

Neat

There is a great store called Neat on Queen Street West in Toronto.

Yesterday, while making the rounds with my sister, I found this awesome wall-mounted desk.

Neat carries a lot of things from the LAX series which has a modern flare in the most classically modern way.

Visit Neat online if you can't make the trip!

From there, be sure to take a look at the LAX Series website . . . .so many great things, even beyond what Neat has to offer!

Get To Know Smythe

I absolutely love Smythe. A wonderful label by Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe based in Toronto. Rooting themselves in the area of beautifully tailored jackets, blazers, and coats, they have become very well respected and revered in the fashion world.

Andrea and Christie were featured in Elle Canada Magazine in an interview by Nancy Won. Click here to read more about the women behind Smythe.
