In the kingdom of Harbeny, Lady “Poppy” Pyppenia is kept safe by her faithful Sleepless Knight, Cyrenic. But when a new king is crowned, an assassin makes an attempt on her life. As Poppy and Cyrenic work to discover who wants her dead, they must navigate the dangerous waters of life at court—and of their growing feelings for one another.

SLEEPLESS, VOL. 1 (ISBN: 978-1-5343-0684-4, Diamond code: MAY180073) will hit comics shops on Wednesday, July 11th and bookstores on Tuesday, July 17th. It can be preordered via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Indiebound, and Indigo.

Select praise for SLEEPLESS:

“SLEEPLESS is the fairy tale I’ve apparently been missing all my life.”
—Amy Reeder

“The world here is lush in character and color—Sallah especially has done a wonderful
job at absolutely saturating Harbeny and its rolling hills and castles with some of the
richest, deepest colors I've seen in a book.” —The Oregonian

“A book that feels like a history that almost was.” —UPROXX

“The manner in which Vaughn has crafted the discourse of the characters makes the
reader feel as if they have peeked into a different world, but one that is very real and
very old. The whole thing feels natural and organic. Along with this is the art of Leila del
Luca and Alissa Sallah, a style that is both soft and crisp with an almost stained glass
like quality to it that lends the whole thing a certain etherealness.” —NJ.com

“A lushly illustrated fantasy world, with plenty of hints of dark magic, animal familiars,
sworn protectors, and dark plots, all hooked around a compelling female lead.”
—Polygon

DREAMY NEW YA FANTASY SLEEPLESS ARRIVES THIS DECEMBER

“SLEEPLESS is the fairy tale I’ve apparently been missing all my life. I love this world that feels familiar but also equally original.” —Amy Reeder (ROCKET GIRL, Madame Xanadu)

PORTLAND, OR, 09/15/2017 — Writer Sarah Vaughn (ALEX + ADA, ETERNAL EMPIRE) teams up with artist Leila del Duca (SHUTTER, AFAR), editor/colorist Alissa Sallah, and letterer Deron Bennett for the fantasy romance series SLEEPLESS this December.

Lady “Poppy” Pyppenia, daughter of a king, is ever guarded by the devoted Sleepless Knight Cyrenic. But a new king has just been crowned—and danger lurks anew around each and every corner.

“SLEEPLESS is a story that is very dear to me, grown from an idea I would play in my head at night as I tried to fall asleep,” said Vaughn. “It's wonderful to see the book come to life with Leila, Alissa, and Deron. I hope readers enjoy reading about Poppy and Cyrenic and getting a little more romance, costumes, and fantasy in their lives.”

“I'm incredibly thrilled to be drawing a romance comic with Sarah!” said del Duca. “She has written a lush world and intriguing characters that I'm having fun falling in love with (pun intended!). We're both huge fans of period dramas and romance, so doing our own take on the genre has been very rewarding. I love the palace intrigue, the sexual tension, the dramatic emotions, and the amazing wardrobes in this series.”

“I'm also very pleased to be working with Alissa Sallah and Deron Bennett,” added del Duca. “Alissa both edits and colors the book, giving us invaluable editorial feedback along with turning in gorgeous colors. She uses a lot of flat colors on top of watercolor and ink textures, which stylistically fits perfectly for the tone of the story. Deron has chosen a unique lettering style for our book that also lends a particular moodiness to the book. I can't wait to share what our team has created!”

“It's an honor to work on such a fantastic story with Leila and Sarah,” said Sallah. “The world of SLEEPLESS has such a dreamy vibe to it. And so dramatic! This is a story that feels very refreshing right now in comics, and we thank everyone for their support!”

SLEEPLESS #1, Cover A by Leila del Duca and Alissa Sallah (Diamond code: OCT170590) and Cover B by Jen Bartel (Diamond code: OCT170591), hits comic book shops Wednesday, December 6th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, November 13th.

MILESTONE SHUTTER ISSUE FEATURES
RARE CROSSOVER OF LEGENDARY
IMAGE CHARACTERS

25th anniversary event hits popular creator-owned storyline by
Keatinge and del Duca

Critically-acclaimed ongoing series SHUTTER by Joe Keatinge and Leila del Duca will feature a rare crossover event to incorporate legendary Image Comics characters from the classic series SPAWN, created by Todd McFarlane; GLORY, created by Rob Liefeld; WITCHBLADE, created by Marc Silvestri, editor David Wohl, writer Brian Haberlin, and artist Michael Turner; SAVAGE DRAGON, created by Erik Larsen; INVINCIBLE, created by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker; and SHADOWHAWK, created by Jim Valentino.

SHUTTER #25 is a landmark issue for the popular pandimensional adventure series, but it will also celebrate Image Comics’ 25th anniversary with this exceptional moment in Image Comics history.

“Image Comics is why I write comics,” said Keatinge. “After a lot of soul-searching, I felt the best way to express my gratitude on the Image partners' momentous anniversary is to unite our characters over eating eggs and drinking mimosas.”

“It's been a dream come true, drawing characters that were created and brought to life by the Image founders,” said del Duca. “SHUTTER may not have existed if it weren't for those seven men who left work-for-hire comics to make creator-owned stories. I loved spending time with their characters, incorporating them into our storyline, and having them interact with our own characters, Kate, Alain, and Alarm Cat. I had so much fun!”

Fans dare not miss the terrifying biscuits-and-gravy secret no one will see coming in SHUTTER #25. Here, SHUTTER will kick off 2017 with these founding heroes meeting up with the cast of SHUTTER’s beloved character ensemble for what may prove to be one of their most delicious adventures yet.

“The SHUTTER team found a great way to celebrate the history of Image Comics—and the universal love of two of the most important meals EVER combined into the best meal (Eat it, Dinner)!” added Brandon Graham (KING CITY, PROPHET), artist of SHUTTER #25’s special variant cover.

SHUTTER #25 Cover A by Leila del Duca and Owen Gieni (Diamond code: OCT160596), as well as SHUTTER #25 Cover B by Brandon Graham (Diamond code: SEP168121), will hit comic book stores Wednesday, December 28th. Final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, December 5th.
