PROTECTOR Coming in January 2020
CONAN THE BARBARIAN MEETS MAD MAX IN FORTHCOMING COMIC BOOK SERIES PROTECTOR FROM IMAGE COMICS THIS JANUARY 2020

PORTLAND, Ore. 10/31/2019 — Bestselling writer Simon Roy (Prophet) and Sideways Award-winning PROTECTOR Coming in January 2020author Daniel M. Bensen (Junction) team up with artists Artyom Trakhanov (Turncoat), Jason Wordie (God Country), and Hassan Otsmane-elhaou (Red Sonja) for the forthcoming series Protector. This all-new science-fiction adventure will launch from Image Comics in January 2020.

"Protector is an idea that can't be pinned down to any one brain. Simon took the first step when he made a project about godlike aliens assisting in a post-apocalypse archaeological dig. I asked Simon questions about the world, which started a conversation that also included the speculative shaman-king C.M. Kosemen. Between us, we started evolving a story," said Bensen. "Simon sketched that scene out, and it floated around on the internet until Artyom got a hold of it and blasted it into the next dimension! I doubt anything would have come of Protector without Artyom's frenetic woodprint-like chunks of black and white. There's this image of 'the slave girl' (we didn't know her name at that point) riding on this awful cyborg cyclops as it claws its way out of the ruins of the old world...we knew we had to finish this story."

Equal parts Conan the BarbarianMad Max, and The ExpanseProtector is set in far-future North America. Of all the tribes that dwell in the hot ruins, the Hudsoni reign supreme, but even they fear and obey the godlike Devas. When the Devas warn of an old-world demon in the conquered city of Shikka-Go, Hudsoni war chief First Knife decides to deal with the threat personally.

Roy added: "I've always been a big fan of Artyom's work, and when we started talking about some sort of collaboration, I immediately thought of the Far-Future Iron-age adventure Daniel and I had been workshopping years earlier. Once we actually started work on the project, choosing Jason—who I had met and collaborated with, back in art school, and who had already started working with Artyom on Turncoat—for colors was a perfect fit!"

Protector #1 (Diamond Code NOV190012) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, January 29.

Protector #1 will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.

JONATHAN HICKMAN & NICK DRAGOTTA’S LONG-RUNNING SCI-FI WESTERN EAST OF WEST TO END WITH THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN

Issue #45 will be the final issue in the series and will land on shelves this December 2019 from Image Comics

East of West to End With Issue #45

PORTLAND, Ore. 10/28/2019 — The long-running, science fiction/western crossover series East of West by Jonathan Hickman (House of X, Powers of X) and artist Nick Dragotta (Howtoons, Fantastic Four) will come to a show-stopping end with the final issue of the series, East of West #45, set to land in stores this December from Image Comics.

“In this business, it isn’t often that you get to end a project exactly the way you want to, and I think that’s what makes this one so special,” said Hickman. “We started East of West with a story we wanted to tell and we’ve had the incredible honor of having a bunch of fans make that story a reality. So, enjoy it. God knows we have."

The beloved dystopian series first launched as a monthly series from Image in March 2013 and explores a dystopian America, divided into seven nations, wherein the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are cast as heroes.

Dragotta added: “It all goes down in East of West #45, an extra-length, action-packed issue that has been one of my favorites to draw. Creatively with Jonathan, Frank, and Rus, East of West has been an incredible ride, and none of it would have been possible without you—the readers—and Image Comics. We did it, 45 issues... thank you and enjoy the end times.”

In East of West #45, the epic world-building, political intrigue, and character drama wrap up into a final showdown that will shock fans.

Select praise for Moonshine:

“Damn near perfect. 5 out of 5!” —Nerdist

“An engrossing, tightly plotted introduction to their latest creator-owned saga.” —IGN

“Shows Azzarello at what he does best, kicking ass and taking names… You won’t be disappointed.” —Fangoria

“When a blockbuster creative team reunites to work on a new project, the results are often magic. That is the case in Moonshine.” —TFAW.com blog

“As darkly beautiful and engrossing as you'd expect from Azzarello & Risso…with a kick as strong as the best corn liquor.” —Jason Aaron

"Azzarello and Risso go for the jugular with Moonshine's bloody tale of bootleggers, gangsters, and monsters both human and inhuman. But the silver bullet here is Risso's elegant use of color. Already a master of black and white, he somehow makes his art even creepier and more unsettling.” —Cliff Chiang

"The moody and tense storytelling Azzarello and Risso got famous for in 100 Bullets only increases with Moonshine. And with Risso doing his own coloring, his art has never been more seductive. More addictive than forbidden booze.” —Fábio Moon

"Moonshine delivers the goods, gets the readers hooked and craving for more. Azzarello and Risso did it again!”  —Gabriel Bá

“Incredible art and writing from two of the best creators in comics. Plus two of my favourite subjects… booze and werewolves all in one book! A winner!” —Tula Lotay

“A dark and unrelenting story that will suck you into another time and place. It’s Miller's Crossing meets Deliverance. Azzarello and Risso bring the goods as they always do!” —Amy Chu

THE KILLING HORIZON Coming in Summer 2020

THE KILLING HORIZON Coming in Summer 2020
HOT OFF THE WICKED + THE DIVINE FINALE, JAMIE McKELVIE SET TO LAUNCH THE KILLING HORIZON FROM IMAGE COMICS THIS SUMMER

PORTLAND, Ore. 10/10/2019 — THE KILLING HORIZON is the explosive new sci-fi vision from Jamie THE KILLING HORIZON Coming in Summer 2020McKelvie, co-creator of the bestselling, award-winning THE WICKED + THE DIVINE, and Eisner Award winning colorist Matthew Wilson (THE WICKED + THE DIVINE, PAPER GIRLS), launching from Image Comics in Summer 2020.

The project sees McKelvie return to writing for the first time in a decade, after establishing himself as both a popular artist of comics such as YOUNG AVENGERS and designer of iconic superheroes including Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Loki.

THE KILLING HORIZON takes place in the post-post-apocalyptic future. Far from Earth, a specialist in studying dead alien societies is embedded with a military unit to excavate a new find. She’s done it before. It’s good work and it’s safe. She thinks it’s just another job.

She’s wrong.

Lost and alone, deep beneath the warped, skeletal spires of the millennia-dead city, she finds something powerful. Something unlike anything any human has ever known. Something that needs her to take it on a journey no living being has ever taken. Something that will make her a target for every side fighting a deadly war. It calls to her.

She answers.

In an exclusive interview with io9 at New York Comic Con, McKelvie, already known for pushing the limits of comic book storytelling, talked about what makes this project so exciting: “The canvas becomes vast and that’s more than a little bit scary for me. Humans are humans, cars are cars, you can generally recognize that a tree is a tree. Those boundaries vanish when you’re doing a story like this. With such a drastic change of setting, storytelling possibilities expand out in all sorts of different directions. There’s a sequence I’m really excited about drawing that arose from a quandary: how do I approach this moment/image on the page? The story possibilities spill out into the “storytelling” possibilities and that’s got me buzzing.”

Joining the established partnership of McKelvie and Wilson are letterer Aditya Bidikar (THE WHITE TREES, LITTLE BIRD, designer Cecile Richard and editor Katie West.

THE KILLING HORIZON is a space opera comic inspired by the works of Iain Banks, Ann Leckie, Michael Moorcock, and Yoon Ha Lee and is perfect for fans of Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen’s  Descender, Jason Aaron, Dennis Hallum, and Stephen Green’s  Sea of Stars, and Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples’ Saga.

PORTLAND, Ore. 10/03/2019 — Hivemind today announced that it is joining forces with James Wan (the GIDEON FALLS Being Adapted for TVupcoming MALIGNANT, AQUAMAN, THE CONJURING Universe) and his Atomic Monster production company for GIDEON FALLS – Hivemind's upcoming television adaptation of the best-selling Image Comics series from acclaimed creators Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino.

Fresh off of GIDEON FALLS' high-profile win for "Best New Series" at the 2019 Eisner Awards, Wan will executive produce the hour-long horror drama alongside Atomic Monster's Michael Clear, Hivemind's Jason Brown, Sean Daniel, Kathy Lingg and Dinesh Shamdasani, and original series creators Lemire and Sorrentino. An atmospheric thriller colliding rural mystery and urban horror, the series follows an ensemble cast of seemingly random strangers — a washed-up Catholic priest, an uncompromising female sheriff, and a young recluse obsessed with unraveling a conspiracy buried in his city’s trash — as they become drawn into a mystery connected to a long-forgotten local legend.

"To have a filmmaker of James Wan's caliber, talent, and vision contributing to the atmospheric and terrifying world that Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino have created with GIDEON FALLS is nothing short of incredible," said Hivemind co-founders Kathy Lingg, Dinesh Shamdasani, and Jason Brown. Fans of GIDEON FALLS, rest assured: We have some incredible surprises yet in store."

Acquired by Hivemind following an intense, multi-party bidding war, GIDEON FALLS marks a major new addition to the company's quickly expanding roster of film and television projects, which currently includes Netflix's hotly anticipated adaptation of THE WITCHER fantasy franchise starring Henry Cavill and Amazon's acclaimed science-fiction series THE EXPANSE, which was recently renewed for a fifth season in advance of the fourth's debut. The company is also currently producing the upcoming feature film BLOODSHOT, starring Vin Diesel and based on the best-selling Valiant comic book series, for Sony Pictures.

Gaines; and the first live-action adaptation of FINAL FANTASY, based the multibillion-dollar video game franchise, in partnership with Square Enix and Sony Pictures Television.
