INKBLOT Coming in September 2020
SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH MEETS AMULET IN EMMA KUBERT & RUSTY GLADD'S MAGICAL NEW COMIC BOOK SERIES INKBLOT COMING THIS SEPTEMBER

PORTLAND, Ore. 06/08/2020 — Third-generation comic artist Emma Kubert partners with up-and-coming writer Rusty Gladd to INKBLOT Coming in September 2020deliver the epic high-fantasy adventure, Inkblot. The new ongoing series will launch from Image Comics this September.

Kubert is known most recently for contributions as a penciler, inker, and colorist for DC Entertainment’s DC Super Hero Girls and Teen Titans Go! She also drew layouts for The New York Times bestselling young adult graphic novel Raven by Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo.

Inkblot follows a powerful sorceress attempting to correct her greatest mistake—the creation of a magical cat that can travel through time, space, and reality. The cat threatens to unravel the fabric of the universe, doesn’t care, and just won’t listen!

"I’ve been working on Inkblot since I was a student at the Kubert school (about four years in the making). Growing up, I always thought comics were all about masculine super men, which wasn’t quite relatable, so I turned to the world of fantasy, like Harry Potter, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” said Kubert. “I loved the fantasy genre so much that I knew one day, I’d have to forge a world of my own. The creation of Inkblot was an extremely collaborative effort between Rusty and I. We both work in the same studio, talking about plots, checking each other’s work, and making sure everything fits seamlessly together. We each use our strengths to create our magically fun comic and epic fantasy world!"

Gladd added: “Expect the fabric of the universe to be held in judgement by a cat—a cat which can conjure any reality and travel through time, but is nevertheless a cat. Emma and I work as a team to put each stitch into the tapestry of Inkblot. Readers can expect the cat to behave erratically, to accomplish the absurd, and to be just as vindictive as it is cute and cuddly. It will lead others on adventures, save those in peril, and play with its food.”

Inkblot #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, September 2.

Inkblot #1 will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.

Nailbiter: Returns Coming in June
INFAMOUS SERIAL KILLER STILL AT LARGE? NAILBITER: RETURNS THIS JUNE

Shocking interior pages revealed

PORTLAND, Ore. 05/05/2020 — The beloved thriller/horror comic series by Joshua Williamson (The Flash, Birthright) Nailbiter: Returns Coming in Juneand Mike Henderson (Dead Man Logan, Daredevil) is back this June from Image Comics in the highly anticipated new chapter, Nailbiter: Returns #1.

Sixteen of the world’s worst serial killers were all born in the same small town…but Agent Finch and Sheriff Crane solved and buried that mystery. Didn’t they? In Nailbiter: Returns, violent copycat murders imitating the infamous Buckaroo Butchers have begun in Portland, Oregon, and if Finch wants the killings to stop, he’ll have to team up with the daughter of the Nailbiter himself.

"Over the last few years I have missed the world of Nailbiter and was dying to get back to it. Being back in the town of Buckaroo, the home of serial killers, feels right and satisfies the return to my horror roots that I craved," Williamson said in an exclusive interview with Comic Book Resources. "The new series builds off the mythology of the original series, has much of the same cast, expands on the mystery, BUT is its own new story.”

Silence of the Lambs meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in this blood drenched story of mystery and serial killer mayhem.

Henderson told Comic Book Resources: “I didn’t realize how good it was going to feel to be back expanding the mystery and creeping everyone out.”

Nailbiter: Returns #1 (Diamond Code FEB200066) will hit comic shops on Wednesday, June 3. It will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.

Dracula, Motherf**ker Coming in October 2020

Dracula, Motherf**ker Coming in October 2020
ALEX DE CAMPI, ERICA HENDERSON OUT FOR BLOOD WITH PULP HORROR GRAPHIC NOVEL—DRACULA, MOTHERF**KER—IN STORES THIS OCTOBER

Preview pages of the action-filled twist
on the classic Bram Stoker vampire tale revealed

PORTLAND, Ore. 03/12/2020 — Bestselling writer Alex de Campi (Archie vs. Predator) and Erica Henderson (Squirrel Girl) Dracula, Motherf**ker Coming in October 2020team up for a pulpy, pulse-pounding, original graphic novel titled Dracula, Motherf**ker. This California-set, psychological horror story will hit stores from Image Comics in October.

Straddling two different timelines, Dracula, Motherf**ker travels between Vienna, 1889 where Dracula’s brides nail him to the bottom of his coffin and Los Angeles, 1974: wherein an ageing starlet decides to raise the stakes. Crime scene photographer Quincy Harker is the only man who knows it happened, but will anyone believe him... before he gets outlined in chalk himself?

“Most people who know my work are aware that I love pulp/exploitation cinema so me doing a book called Dracula, Motherf**ker shouldn’t really surprise anyone,” said De Campi. “Another thing I wanted to bring to this pulp fantasia was a sensibility from horror anime, with its love of transformation and of the noncorporeal, to push the element of man-as-monster in directions specifically suited to sequential art. Things like the abstract portrayal of Alucard (or Pride in FMA: Brotherhood), and the use of Superflat art in Madoka Magica were tremendously inspirational in this book, especially as that use of flatness dovetails nicely with the work of Gustav Klimt in with the book’s 1889 prologue, and with late-1960s pop art and the psychedelic liquid-light projections of the Joshua Light Show.

Erica Henderson has been an absolute dream to work with. She brings so, so much to the book, from her expert visual storytelling skills and her experimental, wildly exciting use of colour in this story to her appreciation of my Demi Moore jokes.  When I saw there’s a nocturne page which is chartreuse silhouettes on a cobalt background, I nearly died, it was so striking. Erica’s so famous from Squirrel Girl so people frequently think of her in terms of her skill with comedy, but seriously, she can do ANYTHING. And watching what she does with Dracula, Motherf**ker? There’s a lyricism of line and mastery of colour that blows everything else she’s done out of the water. That splash on page two makes me think of Kuniyoshi, and she’s brought so much in from blaxploitation film posters, pulp detective novel/Robert McGinnis colours... I’m really not worthy. People will be talking about her art on this book for a long time.”

The perfect standalone story for fans of BBC One’s recent miniseries Dracula, this is an action-filled twist on the classic Bram Stoker vampire tale.

Dracula, Motherf**ker (ISBN: 978-1-5343-1700-0) will be available on Wednesday, October 7 and in bookstores on Tuesday, October 13. It can be pre-ordered at your local comic book shops on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, IndieBound, and Indigo.

Dracula, Motherf**ker will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.

CHU Coming in June and OUTER DARKNESS/CHEW Trade Paperback Coming in July
JOHN LAYMAN SERVES CHEW FANS TWO EXTRA HELPINGS: NEW SPINOFF SERIES CHU THIS JUNE, OUTER DARKNESS/CHEW TRADE PAPERBACK IN JULY

PORTLAND, Ore. 03/06/2020 — Fans of the New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award winning, beloved humor/crime comic Chew by CHU Coming in June and OUTER DARKNESS/CHEW Trade Paperback Coming in JulyJohn Layman and Rob Guillory will be served an all-new spinoff series from Layman, and with art by Dan Boultwood, in the forthcoming Chu from Image Comics. For fans hungry for more—Skybound’s popular Outer Darkness/Chew crossover will be collected into trade paperback and available in July.

New spinoff series Chu promises to be a delectable cat-and-mouse story and will stand on its own for new readers—but delight longtime fans of the Chew universe—and will launch from Image Comics this June.

“After more than 60 issues of Chew, it was never a matter of if I would return to the world Rob Guillory and I created, but when. I needed a break after the book ended, but it wasn’t too long after that I started missing the characters and the world, and had the itch to return. It was something I approached cautiously because, while Chew was a complete story, I wanted to return to it in such a way it would be new and say something different, and it took a while to find the right angle. Outer Darkness/Chew was a step in that direction, as well a coda, a flower on the grave that was the story of Tony Chu. Chu is a different take on the Chu family and the Chew-universe, and in many ways it is a mirror, the flip side,” said Layman. “I’m confident readers of Chew will enjoy it, but it’s also something totally new, the story of Saffron Chu, not Tony Chu. She was completely absent from Chew, and this first story arc will tell the story of why that is.”

While Chew’s Tony Chu is a cibopath—able to get psychic impressions from what he eats—Chu’s Saffron Chu is a cibopars—able to learn secrets from who she eats with. Tony is a cop. Saffron is a criminal. They are brother and sister, and they are on a collision course.

Fans won’t want to miss out on this felonious new food noir about cops, crooks, cooks, and clairvoyants.

Chu #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, June 17.

Chu #1 will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.

Outer Darkness/Chew (ISBN: 978-1534316577) will be available in trade paperback on Wednesday, July 15 and at bookstores on Tuesday, July 21. It can be pre-ordered at your local comic book shops on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, IndieBound, and Indigo.
