Thanks for a great post and congrats to Alexa on the newest release! Sounds fantastic :)

I've actually really become a fan of prequel novellas. It gives me a taste of the world and what to expect, which is great if it's a new to me author. Plus, the pricing is pretty good and for just a dollar or two, you get almost a 1/3 of a book! Before my kindle, I'd have never searched out novellas but now that they are becoming more available, I've been gobbling them up :)

UK Version:

Tim who said...

Though I live in the US, I like the UK version of both books. Maybe it's the flames and the smoke and the chunks of earth, but the UK of Fortress Frontier makes me think fantasy more than any of them.

Question:  Which character from novels, comics, movies, orTV shows do you find infuriating?

Texas Book Lover who said...

Bill from the True Blood show and books is one of the most infuriating characters I can think of. The books and shows have really digressed lately. I will tough out the last book but if Sookie ends up with Bill I will probably want to tear the book to pieces and for me that is totally sacrilegious.

I have to agree that Lori from The Walking Dead is really bad too. I'm kinda hoping the baby is a zombie and kills her during childbirth and I am normally not a mean or morbid person. Just love the show but am tired of her.

Arthur, of course, must be one of nearly everyone's favorites. I also enjoy the villains, Richard III for example, but I don't think I would have liked to have known him very well.

erin who said...

Thanks for a great post and congrat to Adam on the new release! I've been reading such awesome reviews for this book it as already on my "want" list :) I truly don't have a fav time period. I'm pick up what sounds interesting to me and I figure, I'm a long for the ride and I'll go where ever and whenever an author wants to take me :) I'm just looking for a great story and characters I can connect to.

Question:  Who would be your Prince or Princess Charming and why?(The Prince or Princess may be imaginary or real, of course.)

June M. who said...

I don't have a real Prince Charming in my life. Most of the heroes that I really like would not exactly be known as Prince Charming either, I tend to like the Alpha-Dominate bad-boys :) Some of my faves include Wraith from the Demonica series (along with Ares & Than from LoD), and I love the Masters in Cherise Sinclair & Kallypso Masters books.

Hahaha, I love your story of how Calliope Jenkins was born. And I agree with your friends (having lived in Minnesota and South Dakota), nothing magical happens out here. All we ever get are cowboys and Indians. So yay!!! Thanks for finding some hidden things for us!

Jo who said...

I love reading post-apocolyptic and dystopic fiction, and my absolute favorite is the S.M. Stirling's Change novels.

and

Sorry - didn't get to finish! What I like about this genre is that people have to start from scratch and there is a lot of character development in leaving the current world behind and learning how to start again.

rissatoo who said...

Great question, Q! :)
I'm selfish: I'd want to know if the paranormal/supernatural creatures existed in the world, but I wouldn't want them to be "out". Too many people hate &/or fear the different as it is. We don't need to introduce more into the world.

Winners x 13 - August 25, 2012

Question:  Which real town/city/village should be the basis for setting in a Paranormal Romance novel?

June M. who said...

I think that large cities would be best for paranormal series generally, especially for vampires, demons, witches, etc. Cities like NY, LA, NOLA. This way they can blend in, not have too many people too interested in them like in smaller towns.

But for shifters, I would think that areas with less people, more open space would be best (Alaska, desert areas, places with lots of woodlands, etc) so that they can shift and hunt but not have a lot of witnesses.
