1939 Popular Mechanics Wrist Camera

Camera Worn Like Wrist Watch Loads Thirty Six Pictures

"Latest in the line of miniature cameras is a tiny affair worn like a wrist watch. Sighted easily by raising the wrist to eye level, it carries a load of thirty-six exposures despite its diminutive size. It has an f4.5 lens and a focusing scale graduating from one foot to infinity."

The ultimate Memento Mori timepiece, the only watches that'll tell you when you're truly out of time...

For thematic purposes, here are the pocket watch guns... See the rest of the collection at Dark Roasted Blend-->Link

Shoot to Kilfitt - 1969 Prototype Camera-Watch Sells for $60,000!

Shoot to Kilfitt - 1969 Prototype Camera-Watch Sells for $60,000!Like a Russian Matrioshka doll, these obscure vintage and antique camera watches keep appearing and gratefully outdo themselves with each layer of the photohorological onion.

The first that caught my attention was the 1950s Steineck ABC wrist camera, which in turn, turned me onto the world of subminiature spy camera watches and the surprising discovery of this 100+ year old secret photographic history starting with this 19th century pocket watch camera.

And just when I thought I've seen them all, this
UKA 659 model by Kilfitt kills them all with a single 1969 prototype that never went into production and recently sold on eBay for nearly $60,000 (US). Update! It seems to have been relisted and is currently at $58,000 --> Auction Link

Secret Compartment Scroll Watch - 1920s Favre Leuba "Notora"

Secret Compartment Scroll Watch - 1920s Favre Leuba I've featured many antique and vintage spy timepieces in the past (spy cameras, microphones, etc.) but never one quite like the Favre Leuba "Notora" of the 20's. This somewhat indistinguishable wristwatch has a very special feature, the hidden compartment containing a scroll on rollers under the dial and movement. By pushing a little release button at the bottom of the case, the watch opens up to reveal the notepaper rolls which can be adjusted by two roller knobs.

1970 Sipe Steinheil Digital Spy Camera Watch

1970 Sipe Steinheil Digital Spy Camera Watch
I swear this is my last Spy-Camera-Watch posting for a while...But since so many different variations have existed over the past 120 years, great vintage examples keep appearing. This particular one is of the Quartz age, a 1970 SIPE LED digital watch with Steinheil 2.5/12mm lens, for 7 exposures on special cassette. Actually, it appears to be a Dynamic Scattering Liquid Crystal Display, the earliest form of LCD developed in the late sixties. Either way, it's being auctioned from the WestLicht Photographia Auction House (lot 671). Or on Ebay here-->Link
