J. Crew "Canadian" Pricing = Bad News

J. Crew
Here is a very interesting article in today's Globe and Mail regarding the price increases that Canadian shoppers are facing at J. Crew. I really cannot wrap my head around it. Today, seeing that there was a 30% off sale items promotion, I almost placed an order but I had to stop myself when I saw that the taxes and duties on top of my order were approximately 35%.

Feeling Furry?

I've never fancied myself a fur person. I understand the past association with luxury and wealth, but for as long as I can remember fur has been considered socially unappealing and unacceptable. However, I do find it interesting that fur has made such a resurgence in the past couple of years. This season fur accents are very much in the forefront and last weekend these pictures were featured in the Globe and Mail. Amy Verner wrote a nice, comprehensive article focusing on the various aspects that concern fur for fashion. While I doubt that I would find myself wearing real fur anytime soon, the spread did captivate me and I'm thinking that I could make a chic statement in some faux fur this winter.

The Globe and Mail Style section on Saturday featured holiday dressing, specifically adding in accessories. I really loved the goldy rich yellows in the dresses and the jewelry, and I loved the camel influence in the coats and bags. The Style section is the first thing I go for on Saturday. If you don't subscribe you should check it out online. My cousin bought the Club Monaco Coat that is in the second photo, and believe me it is as lovely in person as it appears in ads.

This Saturday, the fantastic Style section of The Globe and Mail featured camel coats as the craze of the season, which they undoubtedly are. The lovely ladies of Smythe were consulted for the article, and Christie Smythe offered up the tale of when she first fell for the style - it was a Calvin Klein double breasted camel coat for those interested. In any case, I loved that the first coat featured was the Wilfred Cocoon Coat. I posted about that coat here. I think that the photos done by the Globe showcase it even better! What a gorgeous piece.
