New Shoes for Spring

Lately my main craving for spring, besides wearing my skirts and dresses without tights and leggings, is new shoes. Specifically I am ready for sweet and delicate flats for work and the weekend. Here are a few that I am loving today!

Two Tone Patent Leather Ballerina Flats by Bloch available through Net-a-Porter.

Pom Pom Ballet Flats from J. Crew

Little Sweet Things

Williams-Sonoma Striped Dish Towels. I absolutely love the pink and yellow ones. They are so bright and cheery, and they just seem to make me smile . . . . yes I will admit to smiling about dish towels.

This Stila gift set is so sweet. I am obsessed with Stila lipglosses, they give a great shot of colour and they smell great too. This set is available through Sephora.

Visit Katie Armour's blog to check out three beautiful selections from the J. Crew Weddings selections. If you're as taken as I am then you can click through the whole site here.

Smile it's Monday

Sometimes on Monday, it can be difficult to rally the troops of enthusiasm. I was thinking today how important it is not to always focus on TGIF, and how the mentality of "workin for the weekend" almost becomes ingrained in us. Here are a few web finds that made Monday more enjoyable.

This side table / dresser on Apartment Therapy is EXACTLY what I need. I am running out of storage space for clothes and this would do great double duty.

The new issue of Lonny is now online. Getting the email notification while heading home today certainly made me smile!

I always find Reese Witherspoon's sense of style so refreshing and her wardrobe so enviable. The image on the far right caught my eye today on People.com - I just love the brown leather boots with the navy pea coat!

This silk Vivie top is in my Shopping Bag on the J. Crew website . . . if only I could justify making my shopping bag switch from virtual to real life.

Last Minute Wishes

Alexander Wang Hobo Bag via Shopbop. This lovely and practical leather bag is on sale and yet still out of my reach at this time of year. Sigh.

Tibi Floral Origami shift dress available through The Out-Net. This is on my New Years wish list!

This dress is so stunning. I was about to order it (without rationale) before realizing that the only size currently in stock is a 10. Here's hoping J. Crew might do more!

This lovely lady was photographed for The Sartorialist a few days ago. As soon as I flagged this photo on my desktop, I saw that Katie Armour featured it on her blog too, proving to me that this outfit really was worth squeeling about! Isn't this girl incredible?!? This is, what I love to call, effortlessly chic. Below I have put together some pieces that echo this awesome aesthetic / look!

Workin' 9-5?

It has been an insane week at work with hours creeping far into the evening, which has left my posting time to a minimum. On this dreary morning, I wanted to take a minute to share a few "likes" before I head out the door.

Workin' 9-5?
I know you shouldn't let a dog on the couch, but I couldn't resist this photo, because so often I can't resist cuddling with my golden. The couch rule went out the window once she turned about two. This sweet puppy, on his very lovely couch, was discovered via A Home At Home.

I rarely wear a hat, except in the winter when it is exceptionally cold. Shop Bop has me thinking that I should go for it this Fall though......

The Neo-Traditionalist has had such fantastic posts lately, directing me to fabulous finds and fashion inspiration all over the web. Earlier in the week, Katie pointed me in the direction of some great new looks on the J. Crew website. I'm loving these!

October Obsessions

It has been an insane week, but finally there is time to indulge myself and post about October obsessions from around the web!

This Hermes watch is one of my favourite "dream" pieces. It's big and masculine, and the soft brown leather makes it feel like the perfect thing to wear with a big camel coat. But above all I love the Hermes website. It's filled with these whimsical illustrations on nearly every page. They just offer a little bit of deserved delight on a fall day.

The New York Times Home & Garden section . . . like this bedroom in Berlin and this Stockholm entryway! Speaking of the NYT, there is a fantastic piece written by Thomas Beller that made me smile from ear to ear today. Click here to read "Home is where your stuff is."

As soon as the air turns crisp I crave Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks. I've had one so far this year, trying to keep it reasonable!!

Listening to Heart of Gold on chilly mornings driving to work. Nothing wakes me up and stirs my mind like the opening beats of that song, especially when I'm on my own, free to play it nice and loud.

October Obsessions
Rich shades of yellow and bronzy brown to get me in the autumn mood.

October Obsessions
Edward Hopper's paintings - which were part of a my American Literature specialization in a seminar I took in my final year. I remember using these paintings as a metaphoric consideration for the home as a barrier, used by the protagonist to escape the complexities of the outside world. I've been fascinated by them ever since. She looks longingly towards the outside, yet she curves self-protectively in determined immobility. Morning Sun feels like fall to me though, the slow rising sun that still is fresh and warm once awoken.

October Obsessions
Elsa Peretti Wave Ring from Tiffany. Just simple and beautiful. For some reason I always want to wear more gold in the fall and silver in the winter. How curious.

October Obsessions
Love the exterior of the new Westchester Boutique. Curved windows and slate black paint is looking surprisingly warm and inviting. I love it.

October Obsessions
Dot Flouncette Blouse from J. Crew. Now being added to my holiday wish list . . . early I know.

Cocoon Concerto coat from J. Crew.

I might have mentioned before that I am not the biggest fan of Katie Holmes. I was much more of a Pacey/Jen fan, than a Dawson/Joey fan in my Dawson's Creek days. However, the movie The Romantics looks quite lovely, even with the aforementioned actress playing a key role, and the entire cast look simply delightful in these photos for J. Crew!

PS - Canadian actress Malin Akerman is just adorable!

Excuse to Catch a Chill

I am a bit of a coat addict . . . .I suppose if you live in Canada, you might as well look fashionable while braving the cold!
